Hi

This has been asked before. Have a look at https://answers.launchpad.net/xibo/+question/113256

Basically the requirements for the server are pretty low. If the PC is capable of running Windows reasonably well then it's probably capable of running the server too.

I'm running both clients and server on hardware that is approximately 10 years old (I guess).... Basically, I use old Compay thinclients, Pentium3 1ghz with 128mb (!) sdram (!! ;) ). These second handers were on sale a year ago and were dirt cheap (about 30bucks each).

Serverside they deliver no problems whatsover, however, the clients sometimes struggle a bit with switching different media (for instance, loading a layout that contains a full www webpage, and thereafter loading a "normal" layout with background and text). Both run windows by the way. I must add that I do not incorporate demanding items in my layouts, such as video. However, I am still impressed with the results.

Thanks for the contributions I wonder if there is any recommendation, because basically I need to work with video, and I will not have trouble loading and playing information

You need to get some machines and test. It depends so much on what exactly you need it to do.

For example if you need 1080p video playback then you need a fast processor say a core2 duo or a core i3 machine or something with nvidia graphics that supports CUDA to offload the video playback.

The only way you can tell is to try it with the layouts you want to run.
