How can I get Xibo working with MS SQL?

Asked by max

Hello,

I've been trying Xibo out and it works really well and we'd like to use it in our college. However, our IT department wants to stay with Microsoft SQL Server. Is it possible to get Xibo working with MS SQL?

We've no plans to support Microsoft SQL server.

If you wanted to write the code yourself then I believe there is a database abstraction layer which would be the point to do that, but you'd also have to look at rewriting the installer/upgrader too. Dan would probably be able to point you in the right direction.

There's no reason you can't have MSSQL and MySQL installed on the same machine, or even better put the server/database on one of the client machines.

Dear,

Xibo is a great product!
Now I have a project need to use MS SQL for Xibo Server admin side. Not sure I can also contribute to community in parallel. Or Xibo have any plan or "WIP" component so that all the stuff would be "reuse" for community......

Hi jockey

If you're looking at making changes you would like included in mainline Xibo, then have a read of the notes for contributing as they explain how to go about that.

Hi Alex,

That mean inside "Development Process (how to contribute) - Blueprints (new features)"? And You need to approve us? And a mentor will communicate with us then?

In addition, we would also customise Xibo client for Web Interfacing. So we will rewrite the your C# client, and let it support for RS232, like the Python one.

Keep in touch

Best Regards,
Jockey

It means you would need to set out what you want to change as a blueprint,
discuss it, and then we can agree a direction for development

Can you help with this problem?
