Problem refresh Region

Asked by ArtatDc

Hello,

I use Server version 1.0.6 and client version 1.0.7.

I have 2 clients, one client displays all regions perfectly. The other client (Of course the important one) does not refresh content.

I have 3 regions in my layout.
The RSS ticker is moving from left to right, also on the badly working client (This region works fine), the other region is displaying 5 pictures with a time of 15 seconds. this works on one client and on the badly working client I only see 1 picture, untill I press ctrl + alt + del, and then I see a new picture.
The other Region is scrolling tekst, on this region the same problems, I can see the text but it is not scrolling, i can see it's moved when I press ctrl + alt + del.

I am running both clients on XP pro and the server version on Windows Server 2008, on XAMPP
The badly working client first had xampp installed and I first had the client and server installed on this machine, maybe this has something to do with it.

Thanks for your support!

Is the hardware identical across the two clients?

Two scrolling items will put a heavy load on the client so on low spec hardware it's possible that the picture changing will never interrupt the two text scrolling items.

The client where the problem occurs is an

Intel atom dual core 1,6 GHz with 2 GB Ram and 320 GB Sata Windows XP Professional SP3

I saw that if I let the client running for a long time, sometimes it works properly, and after a period of time or a reboot, the problem occurs again.

Thanks for the fast response!

And is that the same hardware as the client that does work?

What if you remove one of the scrolling text items - either the Ticker or the scrolling text?

Also what scroll speed have you set on the Ticker and scrolling text items?

Hello Alex,

The client that does work has other hardware specs (HP Elitebook 8530w)

If I remove one scrolling item the problem still occurs (Removed images) at this moment I only have a scrolling text bar and a rss ticker, and still the same problem.with the scrolling text bar. If I look at task manager I can see there is minimal required of the system.

Is it possible that there first was another version of PHP installed on that system? I installed and de-installed different versions of Xibo Player, and to be onest i tought that the system was working in the beginning.

Maybe I have to re-install the machine?

Thanks

I meant to try removing either the text or the ticker. The images won't be causing a problem.

What scroll speed do you have set on the text and the ticker?

The client won't care about any version of PHP - the client talks to the webservice you're running on the remote server, it doesn't know anything about PHP.

If you can't find anything obviously wrong then reinstalling Windows from scratch is always a good bet.

Hello Alex,

I now deleted all regions and created the same regions step by step and now it is working fine.

Maybe I had some trouble's with the duration of the regions, at this moment the duration is set to 90 on al regions, I only see that once in the time the whol page refreshes before the 90 seconds are ended, does this has something to do with the refresh time of the rss ticker?

Can you (or some manual) describe how to set up the duration the best?

Thanks for your support so far! Great!
