Cannot login to admin interface

Asked by Brooks

Hey guys,
We've got players on 1.0.7 and server on 1.0.6. It was working fine for a while, the one day we couldn't login to the admin interface anymore. I've read through the questions here, and found a few suggestions to clear the session table. I tried that, no dice. Everything else seems in order, so i'm not sure what to do now. I've also tried many browsers.

If this helps, I don't even get an incorrect password message if I type a bogus password.

Thanks in advance!
Brooks

What actually happens? Does it just reload the login page?

In the settings table could you alter the server mode setting from
"Production" to "Test" and see if any errors are shown on the login page?

Correct, it just gives you the login page back.

And you get no extra messages shown with the server in test mode?

A couple of other thoughts:

* Check nobody accidentally changed the password. Instructions for resetting the xibo_admin account password are here: https://answers.launchpad.net/xibo/+question/67078

* Check if there were any upgrades or config changes to PHP recently. eg has session_autostart become enabled somehow: https://answers.launchpad.net/xibo/+question/75007

* Check that none of the Xibo server files have been modifed or have been corrupted. To do this you can save your settings.php file and then delete your whole Xibo server directory, extract a fresh download of 1.0.6 in to the folder where the server was, replace settings.php and then go to the web interface. The upgrader will run but it will calculate a nil upgrade and then present you the login page. Note that if you've put your server library folder inside your Xibo server folder - we specifically advise you not to in the install notes - then you'll need to preserve that too. You may also need to fix the filesystem permissions after you copy the new files in - but the upgrader will remind you if that's the case.
