Multi Display

Asked by Shawn

Hey everyone,

I was wondering:
We are trying to figure out a cost effective way of using Xibo. We want to run many different screens off one computer, a split connection, not like a double screen but many clones of one machine. Is there any way to hook multiple displays to one client machine and run multiple layouts from one client machine? This way we only need to buy a few client machines rather than buying tons of displays and more clients.

Thanks
Shawn

You could use a VGA or HDMI splitter amplifier to run multiple clones of the output of one machine.

We don't support multiple different displays on a single machine.

Ok,

I just managed to make two instances of XIBO client run on one WinXP CPU (Dual head/screens) using two different XIBO servers.

Question, what am I going to break in the future? So far, I see the CPU loading almost doubling(50% CPU), which would be expected, but other than that, all seems well so far.

I usually leave XIBO running in the background of my workstation and displaying while I work on the top of it to monitor the Server status.

Impossible to say without knowing what you've modified to allow both instances to run.

Assuming they're using different local library folders then the risk is pretty small. If you've somehow got them sharing configuration / library folders then expect file locking problems.
