hard disk space

i installed ubuntu from inside windows and now need more hard disk space for ubuntu. i know that i can increase it by using the livecd but now was wondering if i increase disk space with using the livecd will there be a damage to files on my windows partition.....

gparted only plays with the partitions in hard disk right... so how to increase size in the root.dsk thing

You can use gparted from your liveCD or (my advice) download the gparted livecd http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php and boot with it.

Resizing partitions is very intuitive.

Ofcourse do not abort the process (which may be long) until it finishes

No not at all, you should be able to get the disk space easily using
gparted (live-cd) and I hope you soon get rid of windows :D

Ahh, so you installed using wubi, you can still try it and see what
happens. Other than that, sorry the only way I know is to do a fresh
install.
