WUBI Installer not installing 9.10 after uninstalling ubuntu

Asked by New2Ubuntu

hi. i'm wondering if some one can help me as I have a real problem. i have been successfullt using jaunty 9.04 for the last 6 months and now since uprading via update manager to karmic things have really gone down hill. my install did not work so good, i was getting black screens with scripts, my fan on my netbook (samsung nc10) was constantly on etc. i originally installed 9.04 using wubu so I decided to uninstall using wubi (as I still use XP) so that I could re-install 9.10. now this is'nt working. i download wubi ok but then as it installed I get an IOE error (URL open error) 10051 saying the network is unreadable. is there anything I can do to get this all sorted as I was really happy with ubuntu (apart from a few on going issues that I was getting sorted) until the upgrade came along and now I'm back to Windows XP!

Does this happen in Windows while copying files from the CD? If so do not use the CD, instead use the ISO directly with wubi.exe by placing both in the same directory.

hi thanks for the response. i did some more googling on my problem and found that it relates to how the pc communicaes with the modem and ISP. i rebooted and managed to get a fresh install of 9.10. i still have the issue of the fan constantly being on and speakers making a constant hissing sound. i run a samsung nc10 so I'm waiting to here if there's going to be workarounds for this. i'll close this one down
