is it just plain lowercase letters, or are you trying to give it hyphens, periods, colons, etc.? Try giving the installer something short, with all lowercase letters, like "keith", same with password, short, lowercase letters, does it still give that error? And at what stage is this error occurring, at the login screen for Ubuntu or the prompt in the installer? Did the installer say anything, any error messages anywhere before the login screen error? And which version of Wubi did you use to install?
