Wubi for Win Vista?

Asked by ThatGrrl

I spent a whole day downloading and installing Wubi, pretty much 24 hours actually because Vista is so effing slow. Then, Wubi did not work. Would not even load. I could see it sitting there on the hard drive it just did not do anything. Vista seemed to prevent it from starting. I came to look here and at the other site and read somewhere that Wubi does not work with Vista. Please please please spare other Vista sufferers from my fate and let people know before they try to download Wubi.

Meanwhile, is Wubi soon coming out for those with Vista? Maybe I will have found out how to get rid of Vista by that time. It really is the most nagging, clinging OS I have ever used. It's like a dog that just won't stop humping your leg. I got it with a new PC. But, you don't even get it. No CD it is just sort of installed on the hard drive. I would partition it with Ubuntu but don't really have that option. Still, I am so fed up with Vista I would rather go back to using Win ME (I never bought into XP cause ME worked great for me) than stick with Vista.

Thanks,

Laura

That is mentioned in the FAQ, and yes we are working on a vista version. You can install on vista but it may require some manual intervention. See this forum thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=438858

From what I recognize, there are not any sources out yet. It seems there has to be a new kernel module built. The truth that there may be an either stressed or wi-fi shows there's a bit more to do, I think. Who knows?! You can see demo here https://yoursilverlab.com/red-golden-retriever/

Can you help with this problem?
