Can't remove grub after installing in Windows

Asked by jmeister

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 from within XP and then had to uninstall Ubuntu through Add/Remove programs. Grub still remains with the two OS choices. Tried using XP CD in recover mode and using fixmbr and have also tried fixboot without success. Being that I installed from within Windows, there is only 1 partition still. What can I do to remove grub and restore the mbr?

I think you should use fixmbr carefully. I do not remember another way except from fixmbr or reinstalling windows.

Both the Windows and the Ubuntu option in that menu both get you into Windows?
