Multiple installations with Wubi (II)

Yes, I've seen question #65671 and its answer... :-)
However, I'd like to ask: can I rename the C:\ubuntu installation directory, edit boot.ini and one of the menu.lst files accordingly and still have that Installation boot?
If so, I could use a second Wubi from a different *buntu flavor to install into the original (hardcoded?) C:\ubuntu...
I'm not afraid of some manual tweaks, however I have no real clue where to start.
