Increase size of Ubuntu 'partition' installed through Wubi

Asked by attikon

I have installed 8.10 through windows vista on my laptop and I chose a size for the Ubuntu psedopartition during the installation. I was wondering If I can now (later) increase this size because my linux installation and files size are getting bigger, and how to do it. All of that without losing my initial windows installation. Thanks.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide#How%20do%20I%20resize%20the%20virtual%20disks?

Although, if you notice you are stretching the limits with Wubi, it is probably a sign that you should consider an installation to a dedicated partition.

Look at:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide#How%20do%20I%20migrate%20to%20a%20real%20partition,%20and/or%20get%20rid%20of%20Windows%20entirely?

You will have to reduce size of Windows partitions to make space. I don't know Windows very well, but I presume you will have to use recovery CD to boot on it (you can't reduce partition if you use it under windows).
After with Wubi installed, you will be able to create new partitions for Ubuntu.

Your question is marked solved, so I will be the single person, with mojo, to see it.
