Password error in wubi 7.04-herd4-v1

Asked by ecology2007

Hey,
when i try and install kubuntu in expert mode it asks me for a password. However, when i put it in and put it in the confirm box also it puts up a message box saying that the passwords must match. I am positive they do. I have tried a huundred times. The only one it seems to accept is "password". I tried it like this but when i went to type it in at the logon screen it says that the logon failed. Why is this and how do i fix it? (By the way i have already tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it. Twice. Thanks in advance!

How has this been solved? The 'expert' option has simply been disabled.

Nah. The bug was the same in easy and expert.
We disabled expert on a temporary basis because these options will be shipped as a separate application. We don't want average people to bother with filesizes.
Password bug has been solved.

I would email you but there is no messenging I could find here on launchpad, so apologies for turning this bug into a full fledged discussion.

I can't use the default installer because I need to install to D: (C:\ has about 1/2 gb free on my work machine) So what app should I look for? A different project or just an auxillary .exe within the wubi project?

And is there something here in the tracker or on the forums I could watch to see when expert mode is re-instated?

Thanks a bunch; I can't wait to confuse my Windows/.NET developing cube neighbors.

A lot of the points above are within the scope of this spec. https://blueprints.launchpad.net/wubi/+spec/herd4-v8-comments and they are being addressed by ecology2007. You can follow the commit logs here: https://launchpad.net/~lupin-team/+branch/wubi/devel

Next version will install on the drive that has most free space.
You can always rellocate safely the wubi folder to any drive you want with a simple copy past (ago s magic inside)
