No boot at all

Asked by trotter

Hi there,

I'm using Wubi-8.04-beta-rev501.exe.
I tried Ubuntu, install was fine, I reboot, I selected Ubuntu, and then...Nothing else than a flashing underscore. I left it alone a few moment, but still nothing.

I tried Kunbuntu, I tried on another hard drive (all FAT32), nothing.
Since I can't use Live CD, I was planned to fully install Ubuntu from wubi.

Well I'm stuck here.

My hardware :
IDE drives, Athlon 2400+, 6600GT.

You mean "If such issues manifest before Linux-side installation (after first reboot but before second reboot), press "esc" at boot after selecting Ubuntu. Select "Safe graphics mode"." ?

If I wait too long, esc has no effect.
If I press esc very quickly, I have grub menu, no "Safe graphics mode" :

find /ubuntu/disks/boot/grub/menu.lst
find /(somehing)/menu.lst
find /(somehing else)/menu.lst
find /menu.lst
commandline (or something like that).

I use commandline and typed proudly :
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Eventually, it has no effect :]

Ctrl+Alt+F1 does nothing at all, neither in grub commandline or in the blinking screen.

Well, don't bother for me, I will give up wubi, get a CD drive next week and use live cd. Too bad for wubi though :(

press esc after selecting Ubuntu when you see the countdown.

depending on where the installer stopped choose either "safe graphic mode" or "rescue mode"

The latter one will drop you to a shall, from there run the command as indicated

Can you help with this problem?
