Install Ubuntu 14.04.3 64-bit on HP Pavillion with Windows 10

I purchased a flash/thumb drive from Amazon. It is Ubuntu 14.04.3 64-bit. When I try to install it I get the error message "Cannot download the metalink and therefore the ISO. For more information please see the log file c:\users\sullivan\appdata\local\temp\wubi-14.04-rev286.log". I am not computer literate so I need kindergarden help or someone to remote control to help me. Here is the information:

The download links of wubi.exe (rev286 for 14.04) are outdated. e.g.: http://releases.ubuntu.com/14.04/ubuntu-14.04-desktop-amd64.metalink does not exist any more.

The issue has appeared after releasing the first point release 14.04.1 (see linked [bug](https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1367071) )

It still exists because of missing maintainance of official Wubi.

A manual workaround for this issue is to download the iso manually. But probably there are two further issues for you if you want to install Ubuntu with Wubi:

) missing UEFI support, which is necessary for a pre-installed Windows 10
) "serious errors" see [here](http://askubuntu.com/questions/453411/ubuntu-14-04-not-booting-after-error-message-tmp-could-not-be-mounted)

So my suggestion is that you either use the default installation method without Wubi or use the maintained versions of a [community project](https://github.com/hakuna-m/wubiuefi/wiki)

Thank you hakuna_matata(hakuna-mata). I finally got Ubuntu installed alone in my computer. I am still trying to learn and understand "computer-eze" but eventually I will be able to work with it. I have never worked with a "terminal" but I am never too old to learn. Thanks again.
