Boot saying: No Wubildir => Can't boot ubuntu, I could before this ...

Asked by Dave Van Eetvelt

I Installed Wubi Ubuntu a while ago, and it went fine,
but at a certain time, it didn't work anymore (no reason),
so i reinstalled.

When i select Wubi Ubuntu on the boot menu, it says: "NO WUBILDIR" and it won't boot.

My computer + it's history:

3 Boot: Vista + XP Media Center + Wubi (not working) Ubuntu
Used: Easy BCD for XP Media center + Vista boot to work (Vista installed first)
Used: VistaBoot¨PRO, same reason as Easy BCD, but didn't work.

I first installed Wubi Ubuntu, on a computer with Vista on it, it worked.
Then I installed XP Media Center, used Easy BCD to fix the MBR for Vista, so XP MCE and Vista and Wubi can still boot.

All three OS's worked afterwards.

Suddenly: Ubuntu quits workin'.

It says as I mentioned above: NO WUBILDIR

I unistalled and i'm hoping someone can help me.

My comp:

3Ghz CPU
256 Mb Graph card
1Gb RAM
600 Gb HardDisk

HELP ME PLEASE, I LOVE UBUNTU!!

Thanks in advance

Might be due to a power outage, try to run chkdsk /r from windows. See also http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=544283

If you have tried Wubi and you like what you see, consider also an installation to a dedicated partition using the LiveCD. That is far more resilient.

Thanks for your quick response.
I fixed it by installing Wubi on another partition.

Thanks.
