12.10 installs, but runs very slowly then gives GRUB command line

Asked by Martin H. Jones

I used wubi to install 12.10. The installation seemed to go fine, but the response is extremely slow - several minutes to respond to a mouse click. When I finally get shutdown, a reboot gives me the GRUB command line. Win7 64 ultimate still runs fine. Host machine is Asus p9x79 motherboard with core i7-3820, 16 GB mem, xfx Radeon HD 7870 video. Any suggestions?

Have you chkdsk'd your NTFS partition? The performance of Ubuntu installed via Wubi us directly affected by the shortcomings of NTFS.

With those specs it should fly. Did you install a custom graphics driver yet?

Can you help with this problem?
