(Wubi) Ubuntu missing on dual boot

Asked by dev

I have dual boot windows 7 and ubuntu 12.04. Now ubuntu is missing after windows checked /tmp for errors. I only get windows and gnu grub options upon reboot. I looked in installation folder and root.disk was at 0 kb. Can I access my data throught windows? Next, I ran a liveusb and boot-repair and still only getting gnu grub. I am attaching bootscript output. How do I restore my normal ubuntu and restore files and folders? Mainly interested in recovering the personal files and folders.

Hi ,

as it seems you have installed Ubuntu via Wubi (from within Windows , as a regular program). Wubi installation is not recommended for long time. Is only for test and see Ubuntu, as such install (wubi) is a virtual installation and not a regular one.

Read these FAQ for Wubi and probably your answer is there: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide

Thanks
