What about Wubi on Windows 8? Is it planned?

Wubi currently works on Windows 8 (except there can be issues if hybrid-sleep is enabled) provided it's a BIOS or hybrid BIOS boot with an MBR partition table.

For computers with a full UEFI boot it doesn't work at the moment. There is no indication that work is proceeding to enable UEFI support for Wubi, but there's also no indication that it will not be supported. Refer to bug 694242
