Wubi

can you backup and restore ubuntu setup when converting wubi install to full install?

I have installed 12.04 and love it. I would like to convert from a wubi install under windows xp to a full install. I know you must re-install ubuntu, but can you back up and restore your settings or do you have to totally start from scratch. If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

My recommendation is to backup what you need then reinstall with a true install then restore your user data etc.
