Install Ubuntu 12.04 with Windows7

I would like to install Ubuntu 12.4 LTS alongside Windows 7 on the same disk.

Using the Windows installer, do I need to shrink the NTFS volume first and also create the Ext4 partitions for the Ubuntu install? I am not sure if the installer will wipe out the Windows installation or not. As a newbie, I really would appreciate some hand-holding here please :-).

Hi ,
if you use windows installer (aka Wubi) you don't need to do anything. Ubuntu will installed inside windows like any other program in windows and you can UN-install it from within Control Panel anytime.
