Wubi

wubi refuses to install 10.04

whilst trying to re-install UBUNTU, wubi defaults to 11.10 despite selecting 10.04

Wubi.exe is built differently for each release. If it's installing 11.10 then you are running the 11.10 version of Wubi.exe (the one available at http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer is 11.10.

To install 10.04 get it here: http://releases.ubuntu.com/10.04/ (bottom of page) or download directly: http://releases.ubuntu.com/10.04/wubi.exe
