Windows 7 and Wubi

Asked by Walter Buettner

Gentlemen,

on my notebook I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

Until now I use Ubuntu under VirtualBox. But I would like that Ubuntu can use the full resources of my notebook (RAM, efficiency). Therefore I would like to use Ubuntu parallel to Windows via Wubi.
But every time I start Wubi for execution from the Ubuntu-CD, I receive a window with the following message:

             pyrun.exe - Kein Datentraeger

Es befindet sich kein Datentraeger im Laufwerk. Legen Sie bitte einen Datentraeger in Laufwerk \Device\Harddisk\DR1.

The translation of this German text is

             pyrun.exe - No data medium

There is no medium in the device. Please put a medium into the device \Device\Harddisk\DR1.

A harddisk is a fix and not changeable device. And in my notebook there is no device named "DR1". I feel completely helpless.

Can you help me, to solve my problem? I strongly hope on your support.

For your help many thanks in advance.

Regards

Walter Buettner

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

technically you don't need to burn a CD, you can just mount the ISO using magicdisk or daemontools and use it from there.

Be sure you right click the wubi.exe and click 'run as administrator'

This is a longstanding bug. You can click through the annoying popups, or you can review the bug report and try to remove the offending device.

Thanks
