Prefix not set while installing with Wubi.

Asked by Vipul

I installed ubuntu 11.10 with wubi without having an internet access . After it installed , when i migrate to the dual-boot menu And enters ubuntu it shows me the following error:-

Try hd(0,0) NTFS: error "prefix" not set.

Please get me off this problem i want to take a look to ubuntu .

That's not an error. Try hd(0,0) is just grub4dos spitting out a diagnostic (verbose) message that it's checking the first partition for the /wubildr file. The error about the prefix not set is a grub "error" but it's true on all Ubuntu Wubi installs from 11.04 and it doesn't do anything.

If you are having a problem booting then there is another issue (post back if that's the case). If it is booting fine and you just want to get rid of that 'text' then the only way is to switch to a normal dual boot as this is a Wubi specific thing.

Please post the log file to http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/ and get the pastebin address and post that back here.

You can find the log file in the %temp% directory and it will be called: wubi-11.10-rev24x.log

Thanks
