Bad LIB calls, typo? in ...desktop-i386.iso invoke? Ooops.

Asked by terry bakowski

Attempting to install Ubuntu on my XP (SP3) cranky old machine. Details, eh?

Loong (~2 hours) install (typical?). Several non-fatal? errors.

*Typo* in ISO run/install cmd?, partial install log below.

Net: ALMOST, no cee-gar. BOOT.INI not modified => no can boot to Ubuntu,
but it looks like it's there, maybe, kinda sorta...

Ran ........install/ubuntu.......i386.iso (installed NCH Express Burn...). [ONLY, I think...]
    (need to delete on REinstall?)

Summary: bad LIB calls (HTTP 400) + malformed ...install/...ISO ==> Holy Cancellation, Batman!

??? Fix TaskList typo myself, uninstall and re-install? ? (or, is not typo, is -command-.....?)

Or maybe wait for cavalry, Kemo Sobby (sp?).

What Should happen? Ideally it's seamless.....probabaly a server was down.

Verrrry inneresting watching the plethora of sites go by as bits 'n pieces were agglomerated, though.
      And instructive :)

Thanks, Terry B (am Not a C, C++, LInux etc programmer...)

   ps suggest: <newline> || "DownloadError: ...." & "OSError:...."

pps ahh, hmm, is complete enough to run ....Temp\pylBA.tmp\bin\7z.exe ???? (WAG) (...prolly NOT...)
    (assuming it SHOULD be run...)

ppps ?? incremental installation not possible? rather than whole-enchilada ??

pppps if I had a really good conception of just how massive this is, I wouldn't even
        ask the question, prolly.

Wubi is trying to download the 10.04.3 desktop CD ISO using a bittorrent client that is getting blocked. Either on your local windows firewall or upstream. If you got a popup requesting firewall access to pyrun.exe (the python runtime) then you need to allow it access or turn off your firewall. If it's upstream there's not way for wubi to download the image.

However, you can download the desktop cd image yourself, save it in the same directory as wubi.exe and then wubi will find it and use it: http://releases.ubuntu.com/10.04.3/ubuntu-10.04.3-desktop-i386.iso
