Wubi installer (Lubuntu 11.10)

Why is lubuntu 11.10 not on the wubi installer. I want to install Lubuntu along side windows Xp or aleast inside xp os, can this be done or do i need to format the HDD in order to install lubuntu.

Can I install from a live cd and partation lubuntu and xp in the installation process? thanks

Lubuntu was not added to wubi for release 11.10. From what I've heard this was most likely a decision of the ubuntu-installer team, not the lubuntu team.

At any rate, I've heard of a way to trick wubi into installing lubuntu, but never tested it.

Your only normal option is to install direct and, yes, the installer can partition XP in the process. See http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download step 4, show me how (this is the ubuntu download, but I believe that the default installer is the same for ubuntu and lubuntu).

Note: if you have less than 256MB ram then you probably need the alternate installer.
