This version of wubi.exe worked for me. You should probably reopen your bug report as it appears appropriate in this case.

In terms of working around it, not really sure. You could try running another version e.g. 11.04: http://releases.ubuntu.com/11.04/wubi.exe or otherwise if you want 11.10, download the iso from here ( http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download ) and create a CD/USB before running.

I would really like to install Ubuntu along side with widow onto another partition drive.
That is the reason why I am trying to use Wubi to install Ubuntu

Using the ISO and create a CD/USB will install Ubuntu onto another new partition on the "C" drive. I really do not want to do that.

Installing with Wubi installs "within windows" - setting up a virtual disk
within the host windows partition. You can install windows onto any
partition (or separate drive partition) but it is always a virtual disk.
Wubi is good to try out Ubuntu and it's generally easy to install/uninstall.

Installing by booting from the CD or USB (not while running windows) will
allow you to install 'alongside' windows natively with a direct partition
install. This is the best option for long term use.
