Daemon inhibited installation problem

Asked by Arpad

I'm trying to install Ubuntu next to a fresh WinXP. I'm running the wubi windows installer.

But when I get to the installation it says: no partitions can be found. When I check the system, it show my winchester, but it can't access it. It says damon inhibited...

Can somebody help? I tried to install ubuntu from CD and USB stick too, but the same problem.

It says root folder not found. But I can't even access the winchester while WinXP works superb.
And I've tried Kubuntu, and Xubuntu too.

This can happen when there are partition table errors that are minor enough not to bother windows, but the Ubuntu installer (or the tools it uses rather) won't ignore them.

It can happen for other reasons as well. To find out more, boot from the CD/USB and select "Try it" (without installing) then download and run the bootinfoscript and pastebin the results and return the pastebin address here:

The bootinfoscript result look fine - no indication of an error that I can see.

I found some threads with this problem - not sure if it will help but here's one:
