wubi grub boot problems ubuntu 10.04

Asked by Ri

Hello fellow Ubunteers;

I am in trouble again following a forced quit; Wubi now comes up with this on the second screen

no wubildr
GNU GRUB version 1.98-1ubuntu8

I have read the Wubi megathread and tried the fixes / codes once booted with a ubunto 10.10 disk. I ran the boot info script which showed sda2 as the right location, however the script caused various error messages; could not find root.disk and when I opened grub.cfg it was empty.
I previously had some issues with wubi / grub and I did lock the verion in synaptic back in January - thanks to bcbc's help back then; details here; https://answers.launchpad.net/wubi/+question/136430
I have the results of boot info but I will not clutter the post up with them here - yet. I cant get paste bin to work either!

If I have trashed the system is there a way to recover old files using ex2read or some such?

Thanking you in anticipation,

Hi... if you're missing the root.disk you need to find it. Please refer to this link: http://ubuntu-with-wubi.blogspot.com/2011/08/missing-rootdisk.html

If that isn't the problem or you have any questions post back.
Thanks
