Installing in Windows 7, install box will not accept machine password

Asked by Michael Kelly, Jr

Trying to install from CD on Windows 7, the install box has the computer name automatically inserted, the password for the computer gets an error message, "Password does not match." What password is the install app searching for?

Your windows password. You need to run the installer as an admin, if your user is not an admin then you will need to run the installer as another user.

The ubuntu user name is defaulted to the windows user name (lower case). You can change this if you like (even if you do Ubuntu will default to display the user 'description' as your windows user name.) The password is anything you want it to be. Just enter it twice, and make sure it's the same.

It's not your windows password - although it doesn't matter if you want to use this. Just enter it twice.

Can you help with this problem?
