GRUB v.s. Windows Boot Manager

Asked by Shinda

Ubuntu Linux 10.04 was initially installed on the machine I use, with Windows Wubi installer. As a result, at startup, Windows Boot Manager runs before GRUB since Wubi (Windows Ubuntu Installer) is a small application used to install Ubuntu Linux on a Windows formatted hard disk.

I wish to run Linux, outside of the Windows environment.

What resources would the Ubuntu community suggest I use for guidance in this respect?

If you want to install Ubuntu to it's own partition, then follow the guide here: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download (go to step 4 and click show me how). Or here's another guide: http://members.iinet.net/~herman546/index.html

If you want to preserve your existing wubi install instead (migrate it to a partition) then refer to this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1519354

Can you help with this problem?
