Wubi

problem installing

whenever i start the installation, initially it works fine, but at the end of the setup it gives an error:

"Permission denied

For more information, please see the log file" of which i cant understand a word

Pls help.

Are you using Wubi or are you booting to the liveCD?

One way is to download the Ubuntu ISO, Install something like MagicDisk or Daemontools and mount the ISO (Windows is primitive and cannot do this on it's own, it needs 3rd party software). You can then run the install from there. Be sure to MD5 test the ISO before using it so you know it is healthy and complete.

What version of Windows are you using? If you are using Windows 7 then you can easily resize the NTFS using Windows 7 itself, then install to the free space made. This will give you a better OS as it is not impacted by the shortcomings of NTFS (Mainly fragmentation) as well as the OS being a lot easier to fix if it goes wrong.

Can you expand on "Nothing is happening" it is too obscure to be of any value to anyone.
