How Do I Access My Windows Files In Ubuntu 11.04

Asked by graeme owen

I have downloaded & installed Ubuntu 11.04 using WUBI. Everything seems OK -

I get the option at Bootup of going with Windows (XP Service Pack 3), or Ubuntu.

Ubuntu seems to work OK and I would like to work with it to see if I like it, but can't find anything related to my Windows work - eg Webpage Bookmarks, My Pictures, My Music, My Documents etc. -

I can't even find anything that resembles 'My Computer' so that I can access files that way.

I've found web based answers to my query for earlier versions of Ubuntu which suggest going to 'PLACES' / 'COMPUTER', but I don't have anything in 'PLACES' which allows me to do that. -

Can someone advise what to do please?

I am not a computer 'whiz!' so please keep it simple!?

Thanks - Graeme

If you run:

ln -s /host ~/Windows\ Files

You can now access the Window data from ~/Windows Data

This will NOT allow you to run the apps on the NTFS partition, but you will be able to access your user documents
