No root file system is defined

Asked by Jeff Vid

New ti Linux. went to Ubuntu site downloaded using windows 7online. Rebooted and got error message No root file system is defined, Please correct from partition. Went to some forums, no luck. Didn't ever ask me to partition or I didn't see it. Is there a way to fix this? I found a way to get a browser up and I'm on there now. When I restart I lose my network password setting.

Are you installing from inside windows? Try reading Ubuntu's wubiwiki and see how it's properly done:

Wubi is an alternative way to install Ubuntu inside Windows (not the best choice) so we move this question to Wubi project...
