DId you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the DVD slowly?

i think so. i also clicked on install inside windows when i get this user name password situation. Incidentally, this installer provided me with the computer name for a user name. Dealing with windows 7 basic here.

That's not any testing. You know if you did testing as it takes effort. MD5 testing ensures the ISO is complete and consistent. You should also burn the DVD if you burned a disk, slowly

Please consult the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide#Installation on How to install Ubuntu? (Section 2.2)

The username is taken from your Windows user name (made lower case). You can change this if you like (but Wubi will still use your Windows username as the "Description" i.e. you'll see this when you login) The password you have to choose and you have to enter it twice.

I assume you burned the Ubuntu desktop CD image to the DVD, because there is a separate ubuntu-11.04-dvd-xxx.iso and that won't work with wubi.

Can you help with this problem?
