Wubi install error in Win7

Asked by JSnowMan100

downloaded wubi installer. When I tried to run it, got an error msg saying "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR2.".
I cannot close the error dialog box (not even when I try to kill the process in task manager). The installer doesn't even run :P...

I'm using a Sony Vaio VGN-Z11WN, Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 4Gb Ram, Win 7 Pro 32 bit

Can anybody help?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Download and MD5 test the ubuntu ISO, mount it with magicdisk or daemontools and install from there.

I suggest (for a BETTER install), use the Win7 ability to resie its own partitions then install a TRUE ubuntu to the free space. The OS will run smoother and you will have fewer issues if you get a problem.

@actionparsnip: we have someone who manages Wubi in forum, so please affect question to project "Wubi". Even if you dislike Wubi, like me, it will help user to see its problem solved.

Remove empty but assigned drives. E.g. if you have a multimedia card reader with drive letters assigned. Then run again. You can also just keep clicking Continue (it's a pain but it's not a loop - even if it appears that way).

You can kill it as well by looking for Process pyrun.exe (the python runtime).

If you choose to use Wubi please see this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1639198
