Unable to boot after update manager install updates,

Asked by Mike Clarke

Unable to boot after update manager install updates, asked me to reebot. When I click on Ubuntu on start up sceen, a file missing message flash up, then goes to boot screen again. I can of course boot to windows but not Ubuntu. This happened to me about a month ago. On that occasion I reinstalled Ubuntu but lost all files.

Hold shift at boot and choose an older kernel. Does it boot ok?

Does not work. On the boot screen options; Windows or Ubuntu, no older kernels as before.

Great then I have no idea, wubi adds a whole bunch of extra complications to things and I personally dislike it

Maybe someone else can contribute

Please see the Wubi megathread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1639198 for a solution. You likely have problem #2, solution #1. After the fix you must also do the Permanent Fix described there.

If you have any questions feel free to ask or post on the megathread as well.
