Download failed because of permision problem

Asked by Devris Wijaya

I'm downloading ubuntu but when it's around 80%, it failed and pop up an error something about no permission. I've tried it twice and the same thing happened. I don't understand what went wrong. I use an administrative account. I have enough space in my harddrive

There's a log file in the %temp% folder. It'll be called wubi-10.04.1-rev190.log. If you're installing 10.10 it's wubi-10.10-rev197.log. I'll take a look if you can copy it to http://pastebin.ubuntu.com and let me know the address.

If you want to install Wubi... the easiest and most efficient method is to download the .iso yourself (using torrent), then download wubi.exe into the same folder and run it from there. Make sure that the wubi.exe is the same release as the .iso. The wubi.exe on ubuntu.com is release 10.04.1. If you want 10.10, try http://releases.ubuntu.com/maverick/

(You can't install netbook edition or xubuntu with 10.04.1 wubi.exe.)

Once you've installed wubi, the update manager will prompt you for updates automatically. Do not update packages grub-pc or grub-common. They are known to break wubi installs at this time due to unresolved bugs.
