trouble downloading metalink

trying to install alongside windows on toshiba laptop. halfway through installation, message appears saying metalink can't be downloaded, and that ISO can therefore not be created. help?

Maybe this is not what you want to hear but I will try to download with torrent.After you downloaded iso read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

There is a log file wubi-10.04.1-rev190.log or wubi-10.10-rev197.log within the %temp% folder. Post it to http://pastebin.ubuntu.com and respond here with the pastebin address you get.

Basically, the metalink error means that the windows installer (wubi) cannot access the internet. It needs to do this to verify a downloaded ubuntu install image (.iso) or in preparation to download the ubuntu (.iso). If you are trying to install from a CD there might be a problem with the CD image.

Please provide more details on how you are trying to install.
