Copy the log file to http://pastebin.ubuntu.com and copy the address back here so I can review it. You can find the log in the %temp% folder (just enter %temp% in the address bar). There is a little identifying info such as username in windows and timezone location. If you want to obscure these feel free, but include the whole log file as it makes it harder to figure out the problem otherwise.

This seems to be a longstanding problem - the source of which is unclear - but it may be hardware related (CD/DVD drive) or even depend on the software used to burn the CD.

I would suggest not running Wubi from the CD. Instead copy both wubi.exe and the downloaded .iso file into the same folder on Windows and run it from there.

Run wubi.exe as an administrator and make sure you have internet access (it downloads the md5 checksums to validate the .iso) or else you need to bypass the md5 check (not advised, but if you validate .iso yourself that's ok). To bypass check, create a shortcut to wubi.exe and supply the command line option --skipmd5check

PS once installed, avoid all updates to packages grub-pc and grub-common. There have been a series of problems involving these packages and it's best to avoid them altogether (they don't need to be updated for brand new Wubi installs at all).

Can you help with this problem?
