download denied

Asked by Raghu natrajan

I successfully downloaded ubuntu 10.04.1 amd64 and installed in my computer with win 7.
No Problem at all.
But unfortunately ubuntu file was deleted.
I tried to download again, but after about 290 mb, permission was denied.
What should i do. Most urgent.
In the download window the rev No is 190.
I even tried to do by changing my name and password. No download.

Can you be more specific with the method of installation?

Was this via WUBI, or a partitioned dual-boot?

Hi Raghu natrajan. If you what you mean is you want to download the .ISO then you can get it straight from www.ubuntu.com. You just need to indicate in the dropdown menu that you're downloading Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

On second thought, you mentioned that it was a successful installation. Right?
So you just need the copy. Am I correct?

@Ryan: please when you answer on a question about a wubi installation, could you link the question to project "Wubi" as we have an expert (bcbc) on this subject. If yourself manage well wubi, you could also subscribe the answers of this project.

Please copy the log file to http://pastebin.ubuntu.com and paste the pastebin reference number back here.
The log file can be found in the %temp% folder named wubi-10.04.1-rev190.log.

There is a little personal information: user name and location in the log file. Remove it if you want but please don't delete sections as it makes it harder to figure out what's going on.

Here's another thing you can do
1. Download the wubi.exe and store it in the same directory where the Ubuntu 10.04.1 ISO is.
2. Run wubi.exe and it will automatically see the image file.

Just open an explorer window and, in the address bar, enter: %temp%
You can also click on Start, Run, and enter: %temp%
It will take you automatically to it.

If you try and browse for it, it's a hidden folder so you need to make sure you can view hidden files/folders. But you don't need to change the settings when you use %temp% to access it.

You didn't actually paste the link, but I found it here http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/536963/

You're running the 10.04.1 wubi.exe with the 10.10 .iso. Wubi tells you what version it is at the top when you run it. Also, copy the wubi.exe into the same folder as the downloaded .iso or burn a CD and run it from there. You can get a 10.10 version of wubi.exe at http://releases.ubuntu.com/maverick/

Whatever version you install, when you get it installed and you run Update Manager, do not update packages grub-pc and grub-common (they're causing problems with Wubi at the moment).

Also before you run it again, rename the log file, so there's only the one attempt in there. Otherwise it gets to big to be of any use.

Good luck and let me know if you have more problems and include the pastebin address as well. Thanks

As mr.jeanAustin dirtected, i have installed Ubuntu10.04.1 in my computer.
If you go to the log file towards the end, you will see error no.13.
Yes first i tried wubi with 10.10.iso.Failed.Now i know why.
As suggested wubi for 10.10 is downloaded.
You please check why error13 occurs.
Regards.
I will wait for your answer and close the question.or as you sugest.

 Mr.bcbc

So permission denied was due to a bug.
If this is fixed by Ubuntu team, others will not be confused.

Thanks
