Problem installing over windows with wubi.exe

Neither ubuntu, neither kubuntu netbook edition cannot be installed on my acer spire one.
With ubuntu netbook edition it downloads data for about 60-70 minutes, then it says unable to reteive iso file.
With kubuntu netbook edition it interrupts after few seconds withot downloading so much.
This came out after latest try installing ubuntu netbook

There are no 10.04.1 releases of netbook edition. That's the problem with the netbook edition download since wubi.exe is very particular about it's version, and it's been updated to 10.04.1 it tries to download the 10.04.1 version and can't find it.

What you'll need is the 10.04 version of wubi.exe (http://people.canonical.com/~evand/wubi/lucid/ you want the rev189) or browse the net.

I don't know about kubuntu netbook edition

PS avoid upgrading to 10.10 at this time as there is a bug that breaks wubi installs.

Wubi works great but there are a couple of areas that commonly cause problems:
1. I recommend avoiding updates to packages grub-pc and grub-common as these are the most common cause of wubi problems and updates rarely have any benefits for wubi users. (You can lock the version in synaptic).

2. If you choose to do a major update or upgrade then you can protect your install by backing up the wubi files (all the ones in the \ubuntu directory).

3. If you find you can't boot wubi, there's a tool called ext2read that can give read only access to the virtual disk \ubuntu\disks\root.disk and you can copy your data off
