ubuntu crashing, wubi installed

Asked by james jupp

hi there
i've just used wubi to install 10.04 on my pc. i first of all had problems loading, just after the ubuntu loading sceen it would go plank for about 5 seconds then my monitor would go to power saving mode.

i managed to to get around this by going into the boot menu and booted in "safe graphic mode" which allowed me to continue to install successfully. after install i lost the ability to use any of the controls or buttons, only the ability to use the mouse remained.

so i restarted in hope this would help, it did work allow my about 10s worth of use but then did the same. (only this time i had the "ubuntu downloads" window open so i could view through this but once again couldn't use any button such as applications)

im a bit lost as what to do really, i figure there might be that i need to update some software but have no way of doing this as i lose control so quickly.

just so you know i am running a 64bit version of windows 7, and have downloaded the 64bit
if u need any more specs:
