How to instal ubuntu 10.04 amd64-1.iso using wubi?

Asked by dishantbt05

i downloaded the file-ubuntu 10.04-desktop-amd64-1.iso.I installed it in month of April using wubi client in windows. While upgrading the nvidia driver it crashed and i unstalled. Now i am trying to install it again but wubi indicating Lucid-desktop-amd64.iso file to download.I donot want to download Lucid due to dial up internet connection.
Is it possible in by any means that i can install the 10.04 using wubi without downloading the Lucid? I am new to disk partition in linux, so want wubi to install 10:04.
Thanking You

Normally if you place the .iso and wubi.exe in the same folder this will work. However, wubi.exe is version sensitive. So if you have the latest wubi.exe it requires the 10.04.1 version. Alternatively, if you are using an older version of wubi.exe it may be trying to download an older version - in this case just pick up the new version from http://wubi-installer.org/.

If you burn the .iso to disk, you can use the wubi.exe that is on the .iso (the version will always match). Note if you download an older version and run updates, then you'll be downloading a couple of hundred MB anyway.

i know this and in most cases it work nicely, i installed sever time. But now some thing new is happening. Wubi extracted from the iso file, downloading the latest iso, this the problem. I think this due to the version upgrade by ubuntu. I am able to install 9.10 but fail in 10.04.
I am now using 9.10 and thinking to wait for 11.04 release to download iso file.

Thanks for your reply..

It's unusual that it would download it again. Perhaps it failed the md5 check. You can look in the wubi log (wubi-10.04xxxx.log that is in the %temp% directory) and it should tell you exactly why it is downloading another one.
