wubi installation not working

Asked by john mcniven

I have tried to install Wubi- ubuntu 7.4 many times and it loads all right but can't seem to get it to work. I am using it along with windows XP SP2. It asks to load installer components from cd. I am not too up on computers. I do have an extra hard drive with Ubuntu version 6.06 on but I am affraid to install because I don't want it to corrupt the drive with xp. I like the idea of having both operating systems on one hard drive and can boot to either. Hope this makes some sense, john

you have to download ubuntu-7.04-alternate.iso if you want it, wubi should download it for you when you tell it. then under system tools and boot options you can set the default OS you boot into. you can have multi hard drives or partition one for ubuntu, but wubi uses virtual disks as to not have to mess with all that stuff.
does that help at all? if not, srry

Can you help with this problem?
