Use of Windows partition in Wine

Asked by Xebozone on 2007-07-09

I have windows 98 installed on one partition. I have it mounted correctly under /windows.

How would I go about configuring Wine to use my windows partition instead of creating a new system?

Changing all the folder settings, eg. the C: to /windows and My documents to /windows/my documents doesn't work:

After doing so, and adding changes to the registry then re-entering wine, it says that the windows folder is non existant and it creates one again in the home directory, and all settings are reset back.

You don't really want to do that. This will mess up your windows install. If you need native (i.e. Win98) DLLs to run applications in Wine, you can just copy them over.

Using a Windows partition to run Wine from is not recommended, and we don't support it.

Thanks, that fully answers my question.

Yes, I learned the hard way. I had to re-install DirectX
