Port mapping failed...

Asked by nukobu

Hi!

In my DC++ configuration I chose the option to let DC++ determine the best connectivy settings.
When I start the programm it shows me this:

[22:29] Connectivity: Determining the best connectivity settings...
[22:29] Connectivity: Local network with possible NAT detected, trying to map the ports...
[22:29] Connectivity: Port mapping: Failed to initalize the MiniUPnP interface
[22:29] Connectivity: Port mapping: Failed to map the Transfer port (53184 TCP) with the NAT-PMP interface
[22:29] Connectivity: Port mapping: Failed to map the Transfer port (53184 TCP) with the Windows UPnP interface
[22:29] Connectivity: Port mapping: Failed to create port mappings
[22:29] Connectivity: Active mode could not be achieved; a manual configuration is recommended for better connectivity

I get this error since WIN7 Professional is installed on my notebook, before I had WIN7 Home and it worked fine with the same settings in DC++.
I live in a students residence, so I don’t have access to a router. There is a hub that can just be connected to by students in the students residence, so I think the problem is WIN7 Professional or my notebook.
I even installed WIN7 new, but I still got this problem.

I have also read through questions asked by people with the same problem, but none of the solutions there worked for me.

Thanks in advance for your help!

FAQ #131: “I can't search nor download. What could be the problem? How can I solve this?”.

Thanks for your help!

I went through this FAQ but I couldn't figure out why it doesn't work.
No firewall is blocking the programme.
My internal and external IP addresses aren't the same, so I chose the active mode (let dc++ configure my router).
I put in my external IP and checked the box that the programme doesn't override it.

But I still get the error messages. I am able to connect to a few public hubs, but within them I can neither search nor connect to somebody...

Is it possible that Windows causes this problem?
Because when I was able to connect to the hub in my students residence half a year ago I didn't do any changes in the programmes setting. And a friend of mine is able to connect to the hub too, who lives in the same students residence and didn't change the programme's settings too.

If you have another idea what could be the problem with my connection I would be glad if you helped me.
Thank you very much!

Appearently your router doesn't support any of the automatic port mapping protocols DC++ use or something still blocking the port mapping attempts to reach the router.
What about passive mode? Is it working for connecting to at least a limited number of users?

In passive mode I can not connect to my students residence hub too.
Like in the active mode I can connect to a few public hubs, I even get search results, but I can't connect to users.

I don't know how the network in the students residence works, I just have a lan plug (sorry, don't know if this is the right word) in my room. I have no access to router settings or something like that...

Because I didn't make any modifications to the program settings when I was allowed to connect to the hub in my students' apartment half a year ago. Additionally, a buddy of mine who lives in the same dorm as me and didn't alter the program's settings can connect to the hub as well: https://phrazle.co
