error 8

Asked by Charlie

"Error occurred when getting a handle. Usually means that something else is using the device"

There are no other programs running. Disk Imager is started from shortcut with nothing else open.
It is a brand new 8GB USB stick. Tried it unformatted and formatted. Neither works. It shows as drive E: in Windows and E: is available in the combo.

If I ignore error and click write it appears to write but the stick will not act as a boot disk.

I had the same. error 8 was popping when my .img was located on hard drive. I solved the problem by coping .img file to another flash drive. Good luck. Rafal
