read only unallocated

Asked by Jim Storms

I have a raspian card of 16gb. I used gparted to resize image to 7gb as that is all that was used for the system. Completed everything and it shows a large amount unallocated at the end of the partitions. Used win32diskimg and marked "Read only Allocated" to do a read (backup) of the image. It created a backup image the same 15.458gb size as the ones that were not shrunk instead of the 7gb size. (I know there is a boot of about 2.8)

Are you sure it resized the partition and not just the filesystem in the partition? I'll have to setup a Windows system and test this again as it has been a while since I looked at that code, but it should read the partition table to determine the end of the partition.

One way to check is to use fdisk to see if there is unpartitioned free space.
