USB with chromium os not booting

Asked by Aman

Hi

I made a bootable USB stick with chromium os using latest win32DeskImager-0.9.5 using instructions given at http://arnoldthebat.co.uk/wordpress/chromium-os/

but the USB stick does not boots in my thin client system. However the same USB stick with chromium OS does boots up in a normal desktop pc. Also if I make a normal Ubuntu or some other live Linux USB using unetbootin tool, the same thin client boots up properly with USB stick.

Any idea what might be the reason. I have checked in bios. It properly detects USB stick but issue is only with booting. Thin client is using Phoenix Bios version N-TNB7-1001.0 X64. Processor is AMD G-T40N

Please suggest what can be the reason of not booting up. If any other information is required, please let me know

Thanks

Not sure I can reproduce this, but it sounds like a uEFI issue more than an issue with Win32DiskImager. It could also be an issue of the image you are using doesn't have a proper boot record for uEFI, but does have a standard MBR that is seen on the other system.

unetbootin creates a completely different bootloader that acts as a shim to the ISO that it copies to the usb drive. Win32DiskImager will only write raw data to the device from the image file given, so I would look there first.

Can you help with this problem?
